Autism: The Musical, revisited

I bet if you've seen this movie, you've wondered what happened to the children and parents after it premiered. What is Lexi doing now? How are Adam and his parents? Did Wyatt end up in special ed or mainstreamed? Does Henry still like dinosaurs? How is Neal doing with his communication tools?

And now, you can find those answers because HBO.com has updated their information, complete with what each child is doing now and what the parents have to say (for each child, click a name under the header "FAMILIES" on the top right). Neal is doing really well, as is Adam, who must have the most interesting parents on the planet--check out what Roseanne has accomplished. Henry is into aliens--just go read it, it's really cute--and Wyatt...well, Wyatt's story will make you cry. And then there's Lexi. My reaction to what her mother says is really conflicted and honestly, it's none of my business except as a voyeur, so I won't go into the details of it here. I hope she finds some peace.

Go read about these children. I hope HBO continues to update us on their lives. They're amazing kids. And just think...so are ours, movie or no movie.

Emily, thanks so much for this. It is wonderful to read about how the kids are doing, to hear of their ongoing successes and ongoing challenges.

By the way, Jordan sent me your way, and I'm so happy she did. I love reading about you and your son, and hearing your perspective on things.

Thanks for letting us know about the update.

Lexi's mom ... all I can say is her comments just floored me. Wow. I wonder if she ever finds joy in life ... in Lexi? True, it can be really hard and we all have good and bad days. But wow, she really seems stuck in the whole bitter phase. I hope she gets better.
